Expert Review on Skoda Superb
Pros
- Premium Fit And Finish
- Powerful Engine Performance
- Great Ride And Handling
Cons
- A Bit On The Pricier Side
- No Diesel Engine On Offer
- Could Offer Better Features
The main thing to consider here is the feasibility of introducing a product in a segment which has started to dry up. In my opinion, the Skoda Superb should do just fine as the car still offers great value, despite no longer being able to offer the sub-20 lakh price the last one did at launch. You get so much equipment here - Apple CarPlay, all sorts of driver aids, and safety features - it is all fantastic.
The Skoda Superb is a large family car that has been produced by the Czech company Skoda Auto since 2001. It is currently in its third generation. The first two generations were built on the Volkswagen Group B platform, and the third generation is built on the MQB platform.

How’s its Off-road Capability?
Skoda Superb has always been a reliable and comfortable car to drive. But how does it fare when the going gets tough? We take a look at its off-road capability to find out.
The Skoda Superb is a large car that’s based on the VW Passat platform. It’s available in both hatchback and estate body styles, and while it’s not exactly cheap, it is good value for money.
Since it’s based on the Passat platform, the Superb shares its MQB architecture with the VW Golf and Audi A3. This means that it’s a very capable car when it comes to off-roading.
In terms of engines, the Skoda Superb is available with a 1.4-litre petrol, a 2.0-litre diesel or a 2.0-litre petrol. The 1.4-litre petrol engine is the most powerful option, with 140PS on offer.
All of the engines are paired with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but there’s also the option of a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox for an extra cost
What’s the Interior like?
The interior of the Skoda Superb is just as impressive as the exterior. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for five adults. The materials used throughout are high quality, and there’s a generous amount of standard equipment. The infotainment system is easy to use, and the seats are both comfortable and supportive.

With so many variants of the Skoda Superb to choose from, it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you.
Here are some things to consider that may help you make your decision:
What is your budget? The Superb is available in a wide range of prices, so you'll want to narrow down your choices based on how much you're willing to spend.
What are your needs? Are you looking for a family-friendly car or one that's more suited for business purposes? Keep in mind that the Superb comes in both sedan and estate (wagon) versions.
What are your preferences? Do you prefer a certain type of engine or transmission? Skoda offers both petrol and diesel engines, as well as manual and automatic transmissions.
Once you've considered these factors, you should have a better idea of which Skoda Superb variant is right for you.
Which Cars Compete in this Segment?
The Skoda Superb is a large sedan that falls into the premium/luxury category. It's one of the few cars in its class that's actually built by a mainstream automaker, so it doesn't have the same prestige as, say, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series. That doesn't mean it isn't a good car, though. In fact, it's quite good. It's just not as prestigious as some of its competitors.
If you're looking for a large sedan that's affordable and well-built, the Skoda Superb is definitely worth considering. Here's a look at some of the other cars in its class to help you decide if it's the right fit for you.
Verdict (Value for Money?)
The all-new Skoda Superb is a big car, and it’s got the space to match. It’s comfortable, quiet and very well built. The new Superb is a great car – but then, so was the old one. The biggest change for this generation is the move to VW Group’s MQB platform. That means it shares its underpinnings with cars like the VW Golf and Audi A3. It’s a big step up for Skoda, and it shows in the way the car drives.
