Hosur-based two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Company has achieved a new milestone with the popular selling Scooty range completing 25 years in the market. To commemorate the silver jubilee of the model, the company has announced two new colour options - Revving Red and Glittering Gold - for the TVS Scooty Pep+. The Scooty range is currently offered in two options - the Scooty Pep+ and the TVS Zest 110. The Scooty Pep+ is priced at Rs. 42,397 (ex-showroom) and is available with the new colour options.

Commenting on the milestone, TVS Motor Company - Vice President (Marketing) - Commuter Motorcycles, Scooters & Corporate Brand, Aniruddha Haldar said, "TVS Scooty Pep+, is much more than just India's No. 1 economical scooter catering to over 4.5 million customers. In its journey of 25 years, it has always evolved to stay relevant to its purpose of being the most viable mobility option for the New Age Indian women, making their commute affordable, comfortable, safe and fun. A TVS Scooty is passed down in the family and seldom resold, this is a measure of love that the brand has enjoyed. We are humbled and grateful to the generations of proud TVS Scooty owners, who built this brand to its iconic status, and made it synonymous with female mobility in India."

The highly popular selling entry-level scooter was first launched in 1994 and found an immediate connect with its target group - young Indian women. Over the years, the Scooty Pep has grown synonymous with young female riders with a customer base of 4.5 million and contributed in offering last mile connectivity in several smaller cities and towns.

The success of the TVS Scooty allowed the company to start a number of initiatives under the brand. The company started the "Women on Wheels" rider training institute for women. The manufacturer also introduced the '99 colours' mass customisation program for the Scooty range and a special celebration series like the Wimbledon edition. The TVS Zest 110 also became the first 110 cc scooter to scale the highest motorable road in the world - Khardung La - and entered its name in the India Book of Records.

The more recent years have also seen the TVS Scooty get practical updates with addition features like the side stand indicator, under-seat storage hooks, open glovebox, daytime running lights and TVS' Eazy Stand technology that reduced effort to put the centre stand by 30 per cent.

In terms of power, the TVS Scooty Pep+ uses an 87.7 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that churns out 4.8 bhp and 5.8 Nm of peak torque. The TVS Zest 110, meanwhile, uses the 109.7 cc CVTI single-cylinder engine tuned for 7.8 bhp and 8.4 Nm of peak torque. Both versions are paired with a CVT automatic unit for seamless gear shifts. TVS claims the Zest 110 can sprint from 0-60 kmph in 11.1 seconds, which makes it a quick offering in its class.
