Introduction

• Volkswagen India has revealed the Tayron SUV for the Indian market.
• This SUV is available in various markets internationally, and as planned will make to here early in 2026.
• The carmaker plans to locally assemble it in India for a competitive price.
• And if VW plans to do that effectively, we think the Tayron should be able to rival its cousin — the Skoda Kodiaq, along with the Toyota Fortuner and the Jeep Meridian.

• The VW Tayron underpins the brand's MQB EVO platform used the new Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq.
• As for the Tayron size, it measures 4,735mm in length, 1,859mm in width, and 1,682mm in height.
• Also, a wheelbase of 2,791mm makes it 111mm longer than the brand's latest-gen Tiguan model.
• This SUV carries forward a similar design like the Tiguan with an aggressive-looking front bumper and sleek LED headlights.
• The latter are connected by an LED light bar, likewise for the tail lamps.
• Moreover, the Tayron rides on large alloy wheels and sports chrome all around, unlike the Tiguan R-Line.

• The Volkswagen Tayron's cabin will also get plenty of features and equipment from the new Tiguan.
• This includes the dashboard and the illuminated trim elements that add to the ambience inside.
• There are even large screens for the instrument cluster and the central infotainment system.
• However, the the seating layout is the biggest difference between the Tayron and the Tiguan.
• The Tayron boasts a three-row seating like the Skoda Kodiaq.
• What's more, apart from the usual set of equipment, the Tayron will also get ADAS.

Powertrain of the Volkswagen Tayron

• The new Volkswagen Tayron is powered by the familiar 2.0-litre, TSI turbo-petrol engine.
• This unit comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
• It will feature the brand's 4Motion all-wheel drive and churns close to 200bhp.
• It would be interesting to see if VW offers the Tayron with a mild-hybrid setup here.
