While it may share its name – and to a certain extent, its silhouette – with two of Mahindra's existing products, the XEV 9S promises to be a completely different take on a family SUV. The name is almost identical to that of the swoopy, 5-seat SUV that debuted last year, but in overall size and shape, the 9S will be bigger than the XEV 9e, and closer to the ever-popular Mahindra XUV700.

That being said, it's important to note the XEV 9S does not share mechanicals with the XUV700, since it is based on the INGLO architecture. The design and styling were previewed by the XUV.e8 concept showcased in 2022, and while we expect to see small styling tweaks being made, the production version should be largely the same as the XUV.e8.

It remains to be seen if the same battery sizes – 59 kWh and 79 kWh – are on offer, or if there is a small variation in battery sizes for the larger XEV 9S. Motor outputs, too, may change, considering the XEV 9S will be designed to haul families and their luggage on a regular basis.
